Sooo sad... This is my last shutdown week for awhile. Techincally it's not really my shutdown because I took at 10% pay cut due to work since I ran out of vacation hours to cover for my furloughs.
This week I'm going to try to finish up my mini projects at work - like finishing the backlog analysis for the service segments (FUN) and try to finish up all the write up for the wedding business I'm starting up on the side.

Junior's 2nd Visit to the Vet
This past Friday, we took Junior to his 2nd vet visit. It was time for him to get his rabies shot. So we took him to this local clinic that was recommended by this pet nutritionist we met over at Petsmart's. The clinic was only 5 mins away from our house and it was definitely cheaper than normal vets. But i have to admit, it was pretty dirty. It run by a chinese couple and people talk good things about them.
Overall the wait was about an hour and he got two shots since he was an indoor cat. After the shot and I got home from dinner with Audrey, Junior wasn't feeling too good.. Poor thing was just not himself. He wasn't eating and he even refused his can food. He was having side effects from the rabies shot. All he wanted to do was left alone. He didn't want his treat either. That was a surprise to me.
It took about 24 hours for him to recover from the shot. The next morning he was still out of it but at least took some treats. I also had to hand feed food to him since he wasn't eating.
Yesterday - we had a mini July 4th BBQ since Tuan was visiting from Texas. I baked chocolate cupcakes and marinated some chicken. We only had a couple of friends over and just stuffed us with food and drinks.
I fell asleep pretty early because I woke up early because I was worried about Junior. It was nice to have him sleep with us yesterday night and having him act like his normal self.

Baptism & Introducing Junior to the kids
Yesterday on my first year anniversary with Johnny, I also got baptized. It was my first time getting baptized during my Christian walk. It was exciting. All my good friends and family came out to witness my dunk. Will share pictures later.
We went to Chili's afterwards for lunch. It was a late lunch but it was YUMMY tho. I had my normal burger bites with fried onions and japaleno sauce. After lunch, the kids and my family came to my house to meet Junior and play with him for a while. We didn't know exactly how Junior would react to sooo my strangers, but overall he did well. He was shy at first but then he openned up. I think Junior was a little afraid of Keegan - he ran up to Junior and he took a step back and hide around the corner. Seeing Junior interacting with others makes me think we made a good choice out of his liter. He was able to mingle and hang with the kids - especially with Keegan.

It's Been a Week - Today is My Anniversary & Baptism
For the last week, Junior has been a pretty good kitten for us. He sleeps majority of the day with Johnny just hanging around the coach area. But there are certain nights where he is just a crazy. He runs from one side of the living room to the other - non stop. He does this for hours until he gets tired again and then crashes out again. All he does is - eat, sleep, run around, and goes to the restroom.
Every night - we would hear him cry outside of our bedroom door but I refuse to let him in. I don't think our bedroom is a place for a pet. Besides - he is just a pet, not an actual person. Once morning comes, I wake up and check on him. Cuddle with him for about 5 mins just to hear his purr..... and get ready for work.
Today - Johnny and I celebrate our first year of marriage. This weekend was just eating. On Friday, he surprised me with a seafood dinner where he made me baked halibut, bread crumb shrimp, and italian seasoned crab. Yesterday, I co-hosted with 5 other girls, Yvonne's baby shower. It was at her house and it was a good mellow time to see her enjoy her time of mingling with friends and opening her strom of presents she received. At night, Johnny and I had dinner reservation over at Manresa. It was good & long dinner. The Manresa chef recently appeared over at Iron Chef and competed with Bobby Flay and WON. Overall - it was a good dinner. We had the 4 course meal and it lasted about 2.5 hours. We started off with a fried bean stalk wrapped with salted fish on the top, potato churro with a fried seasoned leaf (Tasty), and poached egg served in the egg shell (My Favorite). Those were our appetizer that they threw in.
Our first course (Mine & His), root veggie & peas risotto and green pea soup. Our 2nd course, bass (very good) and cod. Our 3rd course, lamb (smelled very good) and beef. For dessert, flavor of New Orleans (I'm not a sweet person) and a strawberry type dessert.
Today is also my baptism too. For the longest time, I've been thinking about getting baptized. Since today it also falls on our anniversary day. I decided to just do it.

Meet Junior (Kitty)
Meet Junior - name after Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Johnny is a huge NASCAR fan)

For awhile now, Johnny and I have been debating about getting a dog for us to raise. Our choice was suppose to be a English Bulldog. But when we were looking at the prices, we thought it was a little much for a dog. I always thought the negative point about getting a dog is destroying our living environment and having our place smell like dog. So for the past few weeks, we decided to look at other options.
For the past couple weeks we have been going to the local animal shelter to look for a kitty or a young cat. Finally, Friday we went to the Humane Society Satelite location at Petco to look at their available kitties. Yes - we found one. We named him Junior after Dale Earnhardt Jr. Johnny is a huge Junior fan. Our Junior is only 2 months ago and 2.7lbs.
Since this was our first pet, we had to go around Petco after the adoption paper were signed we had to walk around Petco to buy all the stuff for him. When we left the facility, associate told us that we need to keep Junior locked up in his spot for a week. When we got home, he came out of his carrier with no problem and openned up on his spot and environment. By the first night, he was well adjusted.
Overall, he's a very good kitty. Over at Petco today, there were three other kitties to chose from. Two out of the three had a cat conditional - polydactyl. So his siblings - one had seven toes and the other one had 6 toes.
